Join us this Sunday as we go back to the Jungle.. for the third installment in Season 6 of the Jungle Trail Series!
These hikes are for the more adventurous at heart, as they venture off into jungle areas that are almost untouched by the hand of man.

In this week's expedition, we will head up into the hills of the Kamala district, on an 7K circuit. This route is exclusive to Phuket Hiking Club, and takes in magnificent waterfalls, bridges, dense jungle & incredible viewpoints over the Kamala Bay area.

The trail composition is varied and consists of dirt hard pack, concrete strip, jungle single track & rocky trail. There is quite a bit of steep climbing & descending involved with some obstacles to clamber over & under. Some areas are precipitous with recent landslides, & the descents on concrete strip can be slippery. So a good degree of balance & agility are required to tackle this hike!

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT
Suitable footwear with aggressive grip
Hydration bladder/ample supply of water
Electrolytes and/or salt chews to prevent dehydration
Snacks/energy gels/food according to your calorific needs
Bug spray for those infernal mosquitos!

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT
Hiking poles - recommended if you have them
Hat/sunscreen/sunglasses - some areas are exposed
Waterproof cover/power bank for your phone
Light raincoat in case of rain
First aid kit/cramp spray/gloves

IMPORTANT HEALTH INFORMATION
Hiking in the tropics is no joke! If you are not used to it, the heat saps your strength rapidly & can lead to heat exhaustion. Water alone is not enough to stay adequately hydrated. You need to bring electrolytes with sodium, potassium & magnesium to maintain mineral balance lost through sweat during exertion.
Hiking in a fasted state is not recommended & can rapidly lead to collapse! Please eat something beforehand & bring snacks according to your calorific needs. There are no shops to resupply on route.

Phuket Hiking Club uses a grading system to help you match the suitability of the hike with your fitness level.
There are 9 grades from PHC Grade 1- Easy; up to PHC Grade 9 - LEGENDS

This hike is PHC grade 3 – Regular Intermediate/Technical
It's suitable for regular hikers or individuals that maintain a moderate level of fitness.

Total elevation gain is approx 470M
Expected time to complete - 3 hours
