HOWARD HUGHES, III YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR ESSAY CONTEST
This is a City-wide essay contest that is designed to encourage entrepreneurship, courage and leadership in the young leaders of tomorrow. Our goal is to help these students understand that every field of study, skillset, and talent, has the potential to be a lucrative business venture. Also, that possibilities for success are endless with the proper mindset and guidance.
Essay must be between 1500- 2000 words long.
7TH TO 12TH GRADE
The topic of the essay must answer the question:
“How will you change the world through Entrepreneurship?”
Submit essay to E-mail SW5mbyB8IEhvd2FyZEh1Z2hlc0NvbnN1bHRzICEgY29t by May 1, 2019. Be sure to have the subject line “Kalamazoo Essay Contest”
Judging will be based on adherence to topic, organization of material, interest, originality, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and neatness. Essays must have a title page listing the following: Creative title of your choice with the subtitle: “How I will change the world through Entrepreneurship”, High school name, grade level, number of words in essay, email, and phone number.
10 finalists will be selected to present on June 9, 2019 at the Radisson Hotel 5:00pm to 7:00pm to a panel of 6 Judges. From there, 3 winners will be selected (1st 2nd and 3rd place).
All 3 winners will receive Howard Hughes, III’s Entrepreneurship Certification, a copy of Howard Hughes, III book Turning Your Ordinary Business into A Successful Empire. 3rd place winner gets a $100 grant to go towards starting their business. 2nd place winner gets $250 grant to go towards their start business, and 1st place winner gets a trophy and $350 grant to go towards starting their business.
