Step 1: Choose Your Volunteer Session
Winter Session 2: February 16 – March 31 (6 weeks)
Spring Session 1: April 6 – April 30 (4 weeks)
Spring Session 2: May 1- 29 (4 weeks)
Summer Session 1: June 1- July 2 (5 Weeks)
Summer Session 2: July 7 – Aug 7 ( 4 weeks)
Step 2: Choose your opportunity
Event Support- Help with setup, cleanup and various event activities/needs. Time Commitment: Min 2hrs (On call: varies on event)
Local Leadership- Act as the community advocates for ElderUp and the seniors they serve. Roll includes: Calling seniors to inform, remind or follow-up on events. May include walking with participants to and from events within short distances. Passing out information flyers door to door. Ideally these volunteers live in the communities that they are serving (although not required). Time Commitment: Minimum 1 hour +
Entertainers- Perform various talents for seniors. Music, theater etc. Time Commitment: 1 hour of performance + setup/breakdown if needed
Activity Assistants- Activity Assistants support both the class facilitators and the participants. Help with setup and cleanup of class, greet participants and follow the lead of the facilitators. No training needed or the ElderUp orientation. Time Commitment: 8hours (1.5 hours per week/4-6 weeks)
Facilitators- Lead various classes & workshops. Skilled and certified instructors are welcomed and encouraged but not required for any of the classes except for Yoga. EU Training is offered (both in-person and online). Time Commitment: 1.5 hours week/4-6 weeks
Class Discriptions:
Dance Fit A fun, music-driven (Latin, country, oldies etc.) workout focusing on movement, coordination, and cardiovascular health.
*Min Requirement: Experience/EU Training Classes are offered 1 hour per week held in 6-week sessions. Instructors arrive 15 minutes prior to each class: Total 7.5 hrs
Cardio Drumming Rhythm-based cardio exercise using large stationary fitness balls as drums.
*Min Requirement: Experience/EU Training Classes are offered 1 hour per week held in 6-week sessions. Instructors arrive 15 minutes prior to each class: Total 7.5 hrs
Cardio Pedal Cardio exercise using small portable bike pedals
*Min Requirement: Experience/EU Training Classes are offered 1 hour per week held in 6-week sessions. Instructors arrive 15 minutes prior to each class: Total 7.5 hrs
Body Balance Strength and tone with a focus on core muscle and stability. Uses: hand weights, stretch bands
*Min Requirement: Pilates Certification or EU Training Classes are offered 1 hour per week held in 6-week sessions. Instructors arrive 15 minutes prior to each class: Total 7.5 hrs
Yoga Flow & Chair Yoga Focusing on flexibility and relaxation. This class is meant to improve mobility
*Min Requirement: 200 hr YTT + EU Chair Yoga training Classes are offered 1 hour per week held in 6-week sessions. Instructors arrive 15 minutes prior to each class: Total 7.5 hrs
***All volunteers must attend a 10 min ElderUp Orientation (which may be done online or in-person). Facilitators and activity assistants must pass a background check.***
