Watercolor Painting of Native Trees and Plants with Instructor & Artist Shaowei Liu
THREE SATURDAYS: Sept. 27, Oct. 4, & Oct. 11 | 9am–12pm
Join us for a three-week watercolor workshop. Each consecutive Saturday focuses on garden scenes and introduces basic techniques. Surrounded by native Hawaiian & canoe plants, you’ll explore your creativity! Instructor and artist Shaowei Liu is a classically trained illustrator with BFA and MFA degrees from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She worked in the video game industry for 23 years as a 3D artist and taught digital art and classic illustration at AAU part-time for 12 years. Formerly a Lahaina resident, she relocated to Wailuku after the fire. Shaowei’s goal for this workshop is to spread the joy of art and appreciation for our nature. Curriculum includes:
Week 1: Basic techniques & styles with line or w/o.
Week 2: Painting trees with photo references.
Week 3: Painting a landscape with trees.
Students are asked to bring an iPad if available; printouts provided & all other materials included. All levels welcome, minimum age 15.
Cost
New Members: $115, includes a $25 Naupaka-level Garden Membership
