The concert "In Memoriam: Ivan Moody - Music Inspired by Byzantine Chant" features works by contemporary composers inspired by Byzantine chant. The concert will include works by Philip Glass, N. Lincoln Hanks and Ivan Moody, who died in 2024.

Paul Barnes is a critically acclaimed pianist known for his powerful musical expression and a repertoire that explores new musical worlds. He is best known for his decades-long collaboration with composer Philip Glass. He is a professor of music at the University of Lincoln-Nebraska. In this concert he will honour the memory of his friend, the composer Ivan Moody, with the premiere of his work "And no birds sing/Opsometha phos".

The Taiga Quartet was founded in the spring of 2019 by four musicians from Joensuu. The quartet has enriched the music scene in North Karelia with its high-quality concerts. The quartet consists of violinists Huba Hollókői and Mariko Matsumoto, violist Sanna Kivivuori and cellist Ville Kivivuori. Hollókői will also be the soloist in Philip Glass' Pendulum for Violin and Piano.

The concert is part of the 20th anniversary conference of the International Society of Orthodox Church Music (ISOCM) at the University of Eastern Finland. It is supported by the Finnish Cultural Foundation and the Finnish Orthodox Church.
