Design and create a one-of-a-kind butter dish using slab-building techniques and playful patterns. In this hands-on workshop, Daria will guide you through shaping and assembling your dish from clay slabs, then adding textures, embellishments, and decorative details to make it uniquely yours. Perfect for gifting or bringing a handmade touch to your holiday table. No prior clay experience is needed, and kiln firing is included.
About Daria: Daria Claiborne has always been drawn to the arts, attending summer art classes from a young age and watching her mother paint “everything that wasn’t moving.” Her first ceramics class was at Spiva Center for the Arts, sparking a passion that led her to study under Helen Ryan at the Emporium on the Square in Carthage and eventually build a full home studio.
For nearly 20 years, Daria has worked with clay and porcelain, most recently focusing on the Mishima technique with a watercolor-like effect. Her award-winning work has been exhibited locally and nationally, including in the International Cone Box Show and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Daria is active in the regional arts community, serving as Accountant for the Joplin Regional Artists Coalition, Treasurer for Midwest Clay Arts, and Accountant for ArtForms LLC.
