- **Event Name**: StoryTown Radio Show: Kooky and Spooky
- **Event Start and End Date**: Mon, 26 Oct, 2026 at 07:00 pm – Mon, 26 Oct, 2026 at 08:30 pm (-04:00)
- **Event Description**: Things are getting dark and mysterious with the StoryTown Radio Show on October 26th at the Jackson Theatre. Celebrate the season with “Kooky and Spooky,” an evening full of true and chilling tales. We’ll be sharing ghost stories from Johnson City, including haints from ETSU’s campus, the specter of Al Capone at Montrose Court, the old Swingle Hospital, and more.

StoryTown performs in the format of a live, old-time radio show complete with sound effects, musical underscoring, live skits, unique commercials, and a musical guest. Joining the cast this month is Lightnin’ Charlie, a kooky local legend in his own right. “A walking encyclopedia of American Roots Music, LC's bottomless repertoire and range—and his unique brand of what he calls ‘Good Music for Good People!’—effortlessly jumps from blues to soul, folk to country, and gospel to rock ‘n’ roll, and he has been wowing his fans (Lightnin’ Bugs) for five decades.” As Ricky Scaggs said, “He doesn't sound good…he sounds GREAT!” Popcorn, candy, and drinks will be available for purchase during the show at the Jackson Theatre concession booth.

Catch the show at 7:00 pm at the Jackson Theatre. Tickets are only $10.00 and are available online at Jonesborough.com/tickets or by calling the Historic Jonesborough Visitors Center at 423-753-1010. Come on out, if you dare.

The Radio Show is also recorded for broadcast on local NPR station WETS 89.5 out of Johnson City, which can be heard the last Wednesday of the month at 8PM. StoryTown is sponsored by the Tennessee Arts Commission, Gary and Sandee Degner, Herman and Beverly Jenkins, Doug and Denise Gross, Terry and Sandy Countermine, Ed and Frankie Wolff, Wolfe Development, and the Wild Women of Jonesborough.
