To celebrate and remember Martin Luther King Jr., the McKinney Center invites the community to join them in a month-long service project. Between now and January 19th, 2026, you can donate food to the Jonesborough Area Ministerial Association (JAMA) Food Pantry by bringing your donations to the McKinney Center.
As we remember Dr. King, we remember his call to service, “How wonderful it is that nobody needs to wait a single moment before starting to improve the world?’” The McKinney Center is inviting the Jonesborough community to join in celebrating the service of Dr. King by participating in a food drive to support the JAMA (Jonesborough Area Ministerial Association) Food Pantry. The JAMA Food Pantry serves residents with Jonesborough, Telford, or Limestone addresses. In particular, the Food Pantry needs:
Macaroni & Cheese
Cereal
Pancake Mix
Syrup
SpaghettiOs
Chef Boyardee
Spaghetti
Spaghetti Sauce
Canned Fruit
Canned Vegetables
Instant Potatoes
Dog and Cat Food
To donate food items at the McKinney Center, please drop off items December 1st through January 19th, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Please help us to feed our community. According to the USDA, “Donating wholesome food for human consumption diverts food waste from landfills and puts food on the table for families in need.” With the need now more than ever for food support, the McKinney Center sees this as an important way to serve the community, especially as many in our county have been affected by loss of benefits this year.
