Join us at Royal Mountain Ski Area for our annual Cardboard Sled Derby, hosted by the Royal Mountain Ski Patrol!
This family-fun tradition is open to everyone—build your sled, dress up, and enjoy a day on the mountain.
The lodge will be open for drinks, with both indoor and outdoor bars available.
Come for the racing, stay for the fun!
Rules:
Materials
• Only cardboard, tape, and glue may be used to construct your sled.
• You may decorate with paint, crayons, markers, etc.
• Not allowed: wood, plastic, rope, staples, metal, or added weight of any kind.
• Sleds will be disqualified if found to contain prohibited materials or added weight.
Design & Conduct
• Keep all designs family-friendly. No profanity.
• Costumes are encouraged—have fun!
Team Requirements
• Maximum 4 participants per sled:
• 3 riders + 1 pusher.
• After the push start, the pusher may jump in and ride.
Race Rules
• Push starts only—no running starts.
• 2–3 sleds will race at once.
• If your sled tips over, you may push it across the finish line to still win.
Judging
• Officials at the finish line will determine the winner.
• All decisions by officials are final.
