Hands-on timber framing workshop in the heart of the Polish-German-Czech borderland

What you’ll learn:
Join a 5-day, in-depth introduction to traditional timber framing techniques, guided by experienced artisans from DRWA. Over the course of the workshop, you'll:
✅ Learn the basics of post-and-beam construction
✅ Practice using hand tools: chisels, saws, axes
✅ Understand traditional joinery methods without metal fasteners
✅ Build a real-life structure: a freestanding, timber-framed info board for the “Magiczne Izery” regional trail
🪵 The structure will reflect the unique local style of "Umgebinde" and half-timbered buildings, common in this cross-border region – a living tradition that connects Lower Silesia, Saxony, and Northern Bohemia.
Who is it for?
- Total beginners with curiosity and no prior experience
- Architects, carpenters, craft lovers, permaculturists
- Anyone who wants to get closer to wood, tools, and slow, meaningful work
🌍 Instruction is in English, with one of teachers being a native-speaker. Participants from all over the world are welcome, especially we invite our neighbours from Germany and Czech Republic to share some common tradition!
Translation and support in polish will be available if needed.
