Intermediate Beekeeping: Hive Management & Honey Harvesting w/ Nicole Huff

Take your beekeeping skills to the next level in this hands-on intermediate course designed for those with basic experience in hive care. Participants will learn how to confidently and independently manage their own hives throughout the seasons. We’ll cover techniques for increasing the overall pollinator population, from supporting native bees to expanding your apiary sustainably. You’ll also gain practical experience in honey extraction, and learn how to properly harvest and use beeswax and other hive components. This course empowers beekeepers to deepen their knowledge, enhance hive health, and contribute meaningfully to the local ecosystem.

Meet Your Teacher, Nicole Huff

Nicole has been a passionate beekeeper for over seven years and an active member of the Montgomery County Beekeepers Association for the past five. She recently taught an Introduction to Beekeeping course focused on honey, pollen, propolis, and royal jelly, and currently manages the on-site hive at Carrie Murray Nature Center, where she also works as a part-time nature preschool teacher. With a strong background in teaching, outdoor education, and hands-on hive management, Nicole brings a well-rounded and engaging approach to her beekeeping instruction.
