Waterfalls are at their highest flow for the season with the mountain runoff, and alpine wildflowers start to bloom. Jasper in June is one of the best locations and months for shooting in the Rockies, and it falls just before the massive Summer crowds start to appear. The landscape in Jasper after the 2024 wildfires is a powerful blend of beauty and devastation - raw, dramatic, and moving. Charred trees stand like sculptures against vibrant new growth, creating striking contrasts that offer endless opportunities for abstract compositions and creative storytelling. The textures, tones, and layers left behind by the fire reveal a different kind of wilderness: hauntingly beautiful, resilient, and evolving. To make the most of the best light, our shoots will be scheduled around golden hours at sunrise and sunset. However, we will adjust the timing the best utilize the weather windows and conditions. In June, sunsets occur just after 10 p.m., with lingering light until nearly midnight, and sunrise is around 5:30 a.m. Blue hours are stunning in the Rockies, and our shoots may extend into he night when the stars come out. The days are very long in Northern Alberta, and twilight remains through most of the night, but it is still possible to view the moon and stars. So prepare to have some short nights at your hotel - but don't worry, you’ll have downtime during the day to rest and recharge between shoots.Our workshop begins with a welcome and orientation at Becker’s Chalets on the afternoon of Day 1.
