Have you been away from dance class for a while? Have you never danced before, but always wanted to? This class is for you! This is an adult modern jazz dance class designed specifically for older bodies.

The class will begin with some simple yoga stretches and then proceed with the first 10 minutes of *Simonson technique. 

*Simonson Technique, created and developed by master teacher Lynn Simonson, is an organic approach to movement that prepares the body to dance in a way that is anatomically intelligent and somatically aware.

Exercises will then be done standing in the center, leading to floor stretches and finally combinations of steps across the floor. Class will end with a short dance combination; Creativity will be encouraged in the form of adding choreography as a group to the dance. 

Instructor Info: Tina Maxwell, LCSW. R-DMT, (Registered dance/movement therapist, clinical social worker) and former Co -Director of Dance on Hudson, a modern dance-based school located in Croton on Hudson for almost 20 years. She has enjoyed teaching beauty, artistry, and expression of movement to all ages. She is a dance educator and trained in a variety of dance forms and styles, specializing in choreography. Her teaching style incorporates opportunities for creativity within the process of learning proper techniques.
