Chapter & Verse: McDonough, Sunder, and open mic
Join us at Loring-Greenough house to hear Jill McDonough and Shubha Sunder, and share up to one page of your own poetry.

*Jill McDonough* is the author of American Treasure (Alice James, 2022), Here All Night (Alice James, 2019), Reaper (Alice James, 2017), Where You Live (Salt, 2012), Oh, James! (Seven Kitchens, 2012), and Habeas Corpus (Salt, 2008). The recipient of three Pushcart prizes and fellowships from the Lannan Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Fine Arts Work Center, the New York Public Library, the Library of Congress, and Stanford’s Stegner program, she taught incarcerated college students through Boston University’s Prison Education Program for thirteen years. Her work has appeared in Poetry, Slate, The Nation, The Threepenny Review, and Best American Poetry. She directs the MFA program at UMass-Boston and started a program offering College Reading and Writing in two Boston jails. http://www.jillmcdonough.com/

*Shubha Sunder* is a 2025 Whiting Award winner and the author of the novel Optional Practical Training, which is a finalist for the New American Voices Award and has been shortlisted for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize. Her short story collection Boomtown Girl won the 2021 St. Lawrence Book Award and was a finalist for the Flannery O'Connor Short Story Award. She teaches in the creative writing MFA program at University of Massachusetts, Boston.

Suggested donation: $5 or whatever you can afford. (We mean this. We would rather have you than your money.) Free refreshments are served.

Parking Information: The Loring Greenough House has a small parking lot. Please try not to park on the grass. There is nonrestricted street parking and a large, free public parking lot off Centre Street between Burroughs and Thomas Streets just a block from the Loring Greenough House.

Public Transportation: Loring Greenough is on the #39 bus line and is about a 12 minute walk from both the Green Street and Forest Hills stations on the Orange Line.
