Gurudwara Shri Sukhchain Sahib, Phagwara – Short Overview
Gurudwara Shri Sukhchain Sahib is a historic Sikh shrine located about 3 km from Phagwara in Punjab. It is associated with Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, who rested here after battles at Kartarpur and Palahi. The name "Sukhchain" reflects the peace he experienced under a beri (jujube) tree at this spot. Later, Guru Har Rai Ji also visited this place during his travels.
The present Gurdwara building was constructed in 1950 and features a beautiful prayer hall, dome, sarovar (holy pool), and langar hall. It is known for its peaceful atmosphere, round-the-clock langar, and 24×7 open doors for devotees.
Major Sikh events like Baisakhi and Guru Har Rai Ji’s birthday are celebrated here. The Gurdwara is easily accessible, has ample parking, and is wheelchair-friendly.
