We at Josh Talks, in collaboration with Facebook, are hosting our first event of the year on the 13th of January in Jaipur. This day-long conference cuts across genres to bring to you incredible stories of gritty people who are most likely to be your next role models. We have in line-up the Forbes 30-Under-30 winner who turns pollution into art, the activist who was featured on the episode of Aamir Khan’s show Satyamev Jayate for his contribution in electoral and political reforms and the swimmer couple who rode over 6000 km on Bullet to participate in a national swimming contest, among other exciting personalities.
Here is the speaker lineup of Josh Talks Jaipur 2018:
1. Arpit Dhupar- Environmental Entrepreneur
Arpit Dhupar created Chakr Innovation, which has the first system to capture harmful emissions from diesel generators. He has collected two awards for his work developing soot scrubbers that can turn India’s air pollution into t-shirts and graffiti.
2. Jagdeep Chhokar- Lawyer & Citizen Activist
Jagdeep S. Chhokar was a professor at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, from 1985 till November 2006. He is also a citizen-activist for improving democracy and governancein the country, a bird watcher, conservationist and a trained lawyer. Before becoming a professor he was an engineer-manager with the Indian Railways, and worked as an international marketing manager for four years.
3. Somesh Shrivastava- Lead Guitarist of Ankahi
Somesh Shrivastava is the lead guitarist of Jaipur-based band Ankahi. The band's genre is classical rock/ pop.
4. Anand Singh Shekhawat, Krishna Shekhawat- Adventure Enthusiasts
Anand Singh Shekhawat and Krishna Shekhawat from Kota took a bike ride of over 6000 kms to participate in an open national swimming competition in Mysore in Karnataka, proving that age is no bar. And the woman won three medals.
5. Bharti Singh Chauhan- Social Activist
Bharti Singh Chauhan is a famous social activist also known as Bhabhisa in her community. She is the founder and chairperson of Praveen Lata Sansthan, an NGO based at Jaipur, Rajasthan that works for Holistic Development of Child Welfare & Women Empowerment across Rajasthan. She has won many National and International awards for her contribution towards the society.
6. Paresh Gupta- Entrepreneur & Motivational Speaker
Paresh Gupta has mentored over 1000+ startups across India, interacted with over 50,000 students in the last 3 years with a huge fan list. He has over 13 years of experience in strategic advisory, takeovers, mergers and acquisitions, infrastructure consulting, financial restructuring and business research across Asia, Middle East, Europe and USA. Paresh has recently returned back to India to start his entrepreneurial journey and founded a 3 times National award winning company SHArP Edge Learning.
7. Gopal Singh, Manju- Founder of Sakhi Bal Niketan, Child Bride
At 11, Manju's brothers married her off to a man who was 10 years older than her. Manju continued to live with her brothers and pursue her studies at an informal school at her Jaipur slum run by NGO Sakhi Bal Niketan Evam Sewa Samiti. All her nightmares came true at 16, when she was sent to live with her in-laws. But fate and more so, Gopal Singh and her schoolmates, had a very different plan for her.
8. Jai Singh, Vikramaditya Barkana- Founders, Polofactory
Jai Singh and Vikramaditya Barkana, the founders of Polofactory, learnt about horses and realized that the equipment one uses makes a major impact on the psyche and the body of the horse and therefore effects the performance of both the rider and the horse. Polofactory is a brand that trains polo ponies and designs and manufactures high performance polo equipment. The utility of Polofactory’s products was initially limited to polo players and horsemen. However the brand wanted to reach out and take polo and horses to everyone else and so ventured into high end fashion and lifestyle.
9. Nandini Kuchhal- Founder, Fight Red Campaign
At 14, Nandini Kuchhal started the campaign, Fight Red, to fight the social stigma and discrimination against HIV+/AIDS children. She started ‘Fight Red’ crowdfunding campaign on Dreamwallets and raised over 3.5 lacs for the cause. Recently, she became the first Youth Venturer from Rajasthan to be awarded by the prestigious Ashoka Foundation.
10. Deepak Ramola - Founder, Project Fuel
Deepak Ramola uses his multi-faceted experiences and multidimensional talents towards channeling everyday wisdom and experiences into easy to imbibe and apply, life lessons. A fountainhead of creativity, Deepak is a poet, lyricist, and the founder of Project FUEL. He has already given two Josh Talks on his work and ideas.
