With the help of instructors, students will make a set of air-dry clay dishes, including a cup, bowl, and plate. Using score-and-scratch tools, they will shape and assemble their pieces, then decorate them with golden glue, resembling the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with something new and delightful.Jun 13 Claymation StationLearn character design tips that will help with creating your own claymation subject. Students will first practice drawing their own character idea, using prompts and suggestions from their instructors, and will then handcraft their charcaters with a wired armature, before molding the exterior with colored polymer clay. Jul 11 Summertime SandcastlesEnjoy the start of summertime with a guided art activity at MOCA. Students and instructors will craft miniature sandcastles using kids’ kinetic sand and other colorful building materials. Participants will experiment with different interpretations and styles to design their own one-of-a-kind structures.Aug 8 Zany Zen GardensDiscover something zany and unreal in this miniature zen garden activity! Zen gardens are usually calm places for meditation, but in this garden, something unusual has grown instead of the usual bonsai tree.
