- **Event Description**: Auditions for "It's a Wonderful Life", directed by Ben Jaeger and Michael Gale, will be held August 8 at 10:30 and August 11 at 6:30. Performances will be held Friday nights, Saturday nights, and Sunday afternoon from December 4 - December 20, with a Thursday evening performance on December 10. We welcome actors of all levels of experience ages 8 and up to audition for this Christmas classic.

Important note: This production of It’s a Wonderful Life is highly character‑driven with minimal sets, so for the role of George Bailey we’re looking for an actor who can command the stage through both physical and verbal storytelling. George must hold the audience’s attention through presence, movement, and clear emotional choices.

During auditions, we want to see bold choices and risk‑taking. A strong choice — even an imperfect one — tells us far more than playing it safe.

On Christmas Eve, George Bailey reaches a moment of deep despair, believing the world might be better off without him. In response, the angel Clarence steps in, guiding George through an eye‑opening journey that reveals the countless lives he’s touched and how profoundly Bedford Falls would change without his compassion. What begins in hopelessness becomes a moving celebration of community, purpose, and the true spirit of Christmas.

George Bailey: Male, 20s. The hero of the story, the Everyman of Bedford Falls. Heir and later CEO of the Building & Loan.

Clarence Odbody: Male, late 20s or older. An angel trying to earn his wings.

Mary Hatch Bailey: Female, 20s. George’s classmate, girlfriend, and eventually wife. She becomes his rock.

Uncle Billy: Male, mid 40s to late 60s. George’s uncle and business partner whose mistake nearly costs George everything

Mr. Potter: Male, 50s or older. A ruthless businessman who essentially owns the entire town. The villain of the story

Mother Bailey: Female, late 30s or older, George’s mother. A very kind and understanding woman

Bert: Male, 40s to mid 60s. A friendly, good humored local patrolman.

Ernie: Male, 40s to mid 60s. A friendly, good humored mail carrier. Often seen with Bert.

Mr. Potter’s Goon: Male, 30s or older. Potter’s henchman. A silent, imposing man who goes everywhere with Mr. Potter

Aunt Tilly: Female, late 30s or older. Uncle Billy’s wife.

Ms. Carter: Female, mid-30s or older. A no-nonsense bank examiner who finds several problems with the Building & Loan

Mr. Potter’s Secretary: Female, late 20s or older. Potter’s faithful assistant

Mrs. Match: Female, late 30s or older. Mary’s mother.

Violet Peterson: Female, 20s. Proprietor of a beauty salon. Has a bit of a flirty relationship with George before he marries Mary

Mr. Welch: Male, late 30s or older. Schoolteacher’s husband, a big quick to anger, gets into an altercation with George

Mr. Gower: Male, 50s-ish. Local pharmacist and proprietor of the drug store. 

Harry Bailey: Male, late teens. George’s younger brother.

Sam Wainwright: Male, 20s. A local businessman who tries to recruit George into the soybean business

Tommy/Young Paper Boy: Male, Age 8-12. One of George’s children. This actor will also be portraying a paper boy.

Pete Bailey/Young George: Male, Ages 8-12. Pete is one of George’s young children. This actor will also portray Young George in a flashback with Mr. Gower.

Janie: Female, ages 8-12. One of George’s young children, a more rambunctious one.

Zuzu: Female, ages 8-12. One of George’s young children
