About the event

Historic Preservation Summer Series: Creating Enduring Florida Landscapes in Small Spaces
Join us on July 16 for "Tradition Meets Tomorrow: Creating Enduring Florida Landscapes in Small Spaces," the third installment in our 2025 Historic Preservation Summer Series!

SPAR's very own Operations Manager, Zach Hanson will discuss how best to landscape your limited outdoor space in our historic neighborhood! Zach has already been doing great work to beautify the neighborhood as a whole, and now wants to share his knowledge with the rest of us to help create beautiful, useful landscaped spaces in our own backyards.

ABOUT ZACH: Zach holds over 10 years of horticultural knowledge from a variety of professional, practical, and formal educational backgrounds. Originally from Northern California, Zach has lived in Texas, Nebraska, Washington, as well as Jamaica. A UCLA Anthropology and Education Studies graduate with extensive experience in environmental stewardship and community development, he has dedicated his career to sustainable horticulture, forestry management, and economic diversification initiatives. His background includes managing plant collections, implementing organic farming techniques, designing permaculture demonstration gardens, and facilitating environmental education programs across the US as well as abroad. Through his work in both urban and rural settings, he has developed practical expertise in plant identification, ecosystem management, and sustainable growing practices. Today, he brings this wealth of knowledge in horticulture, farming, forestry, and development to share valuable insights that attendees can apply to their own environmental and community-based initiatives.

Admission is free, but attendance is capped at 20 guests. Advance registration is requested here: www.sparcouncil.org/historic_preservation_7_2025
