- **Event Description**: For those who grew up in post-war America, WWII is a defining period of childhood memory. But the history of anti-Asian discrimination and the unjust incarceration of Japanese Americans on domestic soil remains a dark chapter that demands closer reflection.

How do people of conscience navigate targeted discrimination and loss of freedom?

In 9/11 Echoes from the Past, Part 2: Leaving Tule Lake – A Japanese American Soldier’s Story and Beyond, speakers Peggy and Dave Doi share the remarkable true story of their parents.

Learn how their father and 36 other men became the first to enlist out of Tule Lake incarceration camp, training in top-secret military intelligence near Minneapolis for service in the South Pacific, even as widespread white hostility limited their rights as citizens.

This event combines WWII history, civil liberties, and personal legacy to examine how courage survived under systemic injustice and what it teaches us about standing up against prejudice today. No prior attendance at Part 1 is required.
