Enjoy a variety of delicious food trucks and live musicians playin' the Blues in Smith Park every Monday from 11:30-1pm! Food trucks and Blues musicians will vary each week: 

Mondays, June 2 + June 30 - The Blue Monday Band is comprised of “the best of the best” musicians who are all members of the Central Mississippi Blues Society and who play at Blue Monday at Hal&Mal’s. Each of these musicians are regular members in other notable bands, who have traveled nationally, and some who have traveled internationally. Most of these musicians are featured on Blues Trail markers along the State of Mississippi’s Blue Trail, and are included collectively on the Blues Trail marker located at Hal&Mal’s. 

June 9 - Jake Carter: A dynamic artist, producer, musician, and songwriter born in New York and now based in Jackson, Mississippi. His signature sound fuses traditional Blues and Southern soul with the modern pulse of hip-hop, trap, and bounce music along with mastering the harmonica, guitar, and saxophone. 

Jun 16 - Rusted Strings: Their sound is Blues at the core infused with a few rock chords. The five members - Brian Walker (vocals + guitar), John Gaines (guitar), Alfred Taylor (bass), Chris Nash (keys), and Keith Sims (drums) - have all played in other bands, including church bands, rock bands, and Blues bands. Their sound influences range from B.B. King to Jimmi Hendrix with some Ray Charles in between. 

June 23 - Chris Gill: A Mississippi Blues guitarist and vocalist who believes in bringing a wide variety of tones to his listeners - from acoustic and resonator slide to cigar box Blues and dirty P90 grit. Chris masters slow Blues, Benton Blues, hill country grooves, juke-joint boogie, and even funky R&B. His influences of Taj Mahal, Mississippi John Hurt, Rev. Gary Davis, Elizabeth Cotten, and Lightnin’ Hopkins definitely come out in his songs.
