Teton Science Schools | Jackson, Wyoming

Teton Science Schools invites parents, educators, and community members to join us for a meaningful evening of conversation with Dr. Michael Thompson, a nationally recognized clinical psychologist, author, and speaker. This community presentation, The Pressured Child, explores the growing pressures children face today and offers practical strategies to support their emotional well-being.

Understanding the Pressure Children Face

From academic expectations to social demands and packed schedules, many children experience stress at increasingly young ages. In The Pressured Child, Dr. Thompson examines the causes and impacts of this pressure and shares research-based insights into how adults can better support children’s development, resilience, and sense of self.

This conversation is designed for anyone who works with or cares for children, parents, caregivers, teachers, and school leaders alike.

About Dr. Michael Thompson

For nearly 35 years, Dr. Thompson has worked as a clinical psychologist, school consultant, and international speaker focused on children, schools, and parenting. He has authored ten books on topics including the emotional lives of boys, childhood friendships and social cruelty, the role of summer camp in child development, parent–teacher relationships, and the psychological dimensions of school leadership.

Dr. Thompson works with independent and public schools throughout the United States, as well as international schools in Europe, Asia, and South America. Each year, he visits approximately thirty schools to lead workshops for teachers, administrators, parents, and students.
