The JHS Drama Club will present the well known musical "Into the Woods" in March 2026 on the evenings of Friday, March 27th and Saturday, March 28th and on the afternoon of Sunday, March 29th.
Into the Woods, which has previously been performed at JHS in 1997 and 2015, is a musical that intertwines the plots of several common fairytales to often humorous results while also revealing the far reaching consequences of the characters' having all their wishes and self-serving desires granted.
To put a new spin on this familiar production we will be focusing on the line "Careful the things you say, children will listen." And looking deeper at how children believe what adults tell them, whether it is good or bad, true or imagined. As such, in addition to high school students playing the primary characters, a number of JCS middle school and elementary students will participate in an ensemble "Once Upon a Choir" which will help audiences see how these stories look different through a child's eyes.
Directors are in the process of hosting auditions for high school and middle school students and sending invitations to elementary participants.
We would love to invite members of the 1997 and 2015 casts to be recognized at our Saturday evening performance.
Watch this space for more details as they become available.
