Liú [ 流] // to flow ; to disseminate ; to move or drift. Liú Duo is a Brussels-based duo featuring guzheng player and singer Yi Huijun and pianist-composer Filippo Deorsola . Their music unfolds through spontaneous, textural dialogues. Turning the piano into a curious dream machine where echoes of gongs, bells melt into each other, wood-based piano preparations walk a path together with the luminous voice of the Guzheng, a traditional chinese zither instrument with over 2500 years of history. Rooted in a ritual of motion and flow, their compositions trace ephemeral --yet monolithic -- landscapes where ambient, experimental and world music intersect over a meditative and playful exploration of timbre, rhythm and non-western tuning systems. Drawing from the contemporary tradition of musiques répétitives, Chinese traditional music, and drone music, the duo invites audiences into a space of attentive presence and slow transformation.
