Gabriela Vermelho and Anna Romanovská are experienced musicians who have been playing together for many years in various musical projects and ensembles. Driven by a desire for original musical self-expression, they founded a duo based exclusively on their own original compositions. Their work touches on all musical styles, quite literally knows no boundaries, and is interwoven with numerous improvisations. As another element that enhances the overall musical expression and atmosphere, the artists use original texts, folk lyrics, and poems by Czech poets.


GABRIELA VERMELHO is a Czech singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer and performer. Classically trained, she is recognized as a distinctive figure on the Czech contemporary music and performance scene, working at the intersection of classical music, jazz, chanson, alternative, world music and improvisation.

As an instrumentalist, she plays violin, viola and the five-string viola (kvinton). Her voice functions as an equal musical instrument, used both in composed structures and free improvisation, often closely intertwined with string performance. A defining aspect of her work is the fluid integration of interpretation, improvisation and original composition.

Gabriela Vermelho has appeared as a soloist and performer with leading Czech orchestras and ensembles, including the Talich Chamber Orchestra, Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, Gustav Brom Orchestra, Berg Orchestra, as well as numerous chamber and contemporary music groups. Alongside orchestral projects, she maintains an active solo and chamber concert career, developing a highly personal style that combines classical technique with improvisation and strong stage presence.

An important part of her career is her work in music theatre and performance. In 2005, she received the Alfréd Radok Award – Talent of the Year for her role as Eva in The Ballad for a Bandit at Theatre Husa na provázku. She has also collaborated with crossover and alternative projects, including the band Maraca (Anděl Award nomination), and other ensembles bridging jazz, world music and alternative genres.

Improvisation is a core principle of her artistic approach. Her concerts often arise in direct response to the space, acoustics and atmosphere, blurring the line between concert and performance. This approach is particularly evident in her solo projects and intimate collaborations.

As a composer, Gabriela Vermelho focuses primarily on stage music for theatre, dance and film. She has created original scores for numerous productions, including Jessie and Morgiana, Stolen Motherhood, (S)Creation, The Neverending Story and the ballet The Little Prince. Her compositional language combines classical structure with improvisation, unconventional sound sources and strong dramaturgical thinking.

In 2023, she released the authorial album Year of Silence (Rok ticha), summarizing her work with voice, strings and scenic music and confirming her position as a composer with a distinctive and personal musical voice.

Gabriela Vermelho is an artist who consistently integrates performance, improvisation and composition, creating a unique artistic language defined by technical mastery, expressive depth and openness to interdisciplinary collaboration.



ANNA ROMANOVSKÁ FLIEGEROVÁ studied violin at the Prague Conservatory. In June 2008 she completed her Master's degree at the Pedagogical Faculty of Charles University in Prague (violin and music education). In April 2006 and 2007 she represented the Charles University at the international chamber music masterclasses in the European Union MUSTUFE (music study festival) programme in Lithuania. As part of the Erasmus university exchange programme she studied for one semester at St. Patrick's College of Dublin and also undertook a fortnight's placement at a partner university in Moscow.

Since her studies at the conservatory, Anna has been continuously performing contemporary music. She is a permanent member of the Berg Chamber Orchestra (since 2000) and has been collaborating with Petr Kotík for six years on the Ostrava New Orchestra and New Opera Days Ostrava projects.

Thanks to the production Schwarz auf Weiss by German composer Heiner Goebbels, which was performed by the Berg Orchestra at the Strings of Autumn in 2009, Anna began to learn to play the Japanese instrument koto. A year later, a composition called Lacrimosa for baroque violin, koto, tam-tam and strings by the young Czech composer Slavomir Hořínka was written for her, and in 2017 a composition called Tredecimchordon 4 koto by Doc. Vlastislav Matoušek.

Currently Anna uses the koto mainly in free improvisations with the Romanovská Tichý Hrubý Trio. The trio released its fifth CD this year on the Slovak label Hevhetia and regularly performs with guests from a wide musical spectrum - soprano Hana Blažíková, vocalist Annabelle Plum, underground saxophonist Vratislav Brabenec, German drummer Klaus Kugel and Irish violinist and viola d'amore player Garth Knox, among others. Anna teaches violin and music theory at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague and cooperates as a lecturer with the Ponec Children's Studio.

Her latest projects include a collaboration with artist and performer Petr Nikl.
Since 2023, she has been a member of MAOMAH (founded by double bassist Klára Pudláková as her master's project at the jazz department of HAMU).
In the same year, she became concertmaster of the PMP orchestra and a member of the PMP ensemble and also guested in the Slovak Ensemble Spectrum in a composition by Juraj Vajó in the part for electric six-string violin.
With the artistic association Ostružina, she co-created a sensory performance for toddlers, parents, grandparents and non-parents called Néenyi (premiere in December 2022 at the Ponec Theatre).
