About the event

Professional Directions: A Conversation with Jason Collins
Join the Department of Performing and Media Arts for Professional Directions: From the Ground Up: Producing & Curating Live Performance with Jason Collins, the curator of the Spiegeltent at Bard Summerscape and producer at the Fisher Center at Bard on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 5:30 PM in Room 220, Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts. The guest will join virtually on Zoom. This event is moderated by PMA Assistant Professor of the Practice Danielle Russo and is free and open to the public.

Born and raised in NY's Capital District, Jason Collins is the curator of the Spiegeltent at Bard Summerscape and producer at the Fisher Center at Bard (FCB). While at FCB, he has produced works by artists across all performing arts disciplines, including world premieres by Pam Tanowitz, Caroline Shaw, David Lang, Justin Peck, Jackie Sibblies Drury, and Elevator Repair Service, as well as Spiegeltent seasons '22-'25 and the FCB LAB Biennial Festival '22. He has also produced FCB tours around the world, including at La Biennale di Venezia, Barbican Center, Royal Opera House, New York City Center, and BAM.

Before joining the Fisher Center in 2022, Collins was an independent producer and company manager with Pam Tanowitz Dance, Pavel Zustiak, and Big Dance Theater. Collins is a Juilliard graduate and danced professionally for over a decade, most notably with Pam Tanowitz, Ryan McNamara, Danielle Russo, Metropolitan Opera, and Merce Cunningham Trust.

The Professional Directions series brings industry experts to campus to speak about their career journeys as screenwriters, playwrights, editors, producers, directors, theatre critics, dramaturgs, and more.
