Celebrate Sonam Lhochhar 2026 with the Tamang Society of Texas as we welcome the New Year with music, culture and community.
This year we will be welcoming the year of the Horse. The Year of the Horse is known for energy, progress and a spirit of confidence. In Tamang and other lunar traditions, the horse symbolizes movement, strength and the drive to push forward with purpose. People often associate this year with new opportunities, decisive action and the courage to overcome challenges. It’s a time that encourages fresh starts, bold ideas and steady growth, making it a meaningful year to celebrate with family and community.
Sonam Lhochhar is one of the most meaningful days in the Tamang calendar. It is a time to gather, honor our traditions and start the year with good energy and blessings. This evening brings families, friends and supporters together for a warm cultural celebration in the heart of Irving.
