Anyone can join with us to celebrate our biggest harvesting festival “Chasok Tangnam” with full of joy & Happiness.
“Chasok Tangnam” is one of the biggest & most important harvesting festival celebrated by ethnic group of Kirat Limbu/Yakthung people. Which falls on full Moon day of the month of Senchengla. (Mangsir month of Nepali calendar)
In Yakthungpaan ‘Cha’ means grains & ‘Sok’ means to offer. Thus, it is a time when first grains, fruits, corps, especially newly harvested rice are offered to “Tagera Ningwaphu Mang” (almighty, omniscient, the Supreme God), other deities and ancestors as a symbol of respect and thankfulness for bountiful harvest.
The festival highlights Yakthung/Limbu culture through traditional music, dances, songs, rituals and community feasts bringing families and villages together in harmony and celebration. It is also reflects gratitude, harmony and the deep agricultural traditions of the limbu people.
It also entails asking forgiveness from nature for destroying non human beings during the process of agriculture.
Limbu people are inhabitants of eastern parts of Nepal ; where they lived is called- “LIMBUWAN” (Pallo Kirat Limbuwan)
