Marymass is a 12 day annual medieval festival and horse fair held in the North Ayrshire town of Irvine. Dating back to 1372, the festival now incorporates traditions mixed with modern-day influence.
Marymass Saturday boasts one of the largest horse-drawn parades in the world. No motorised vehicles are permitted in the main ‘Marymass Saturday’ parade, creating a unique and incredible spectacle around the auld streets of Irvine.
Horses, pipe bands, carts, jousters, dancers and even more bands, this parade really does have it all!
We also have a day of activities on Irvine Moor including horse racing, paddock, live jousting, kids entertainment, live music, giant funfair and a market area.
The parade kicks off at 10am from Golffields Road, passing Irvine Cross at 10:30am & 11:45am. The Marymass Queen is crowned outside Irvine Townhouse at 12pm before the main parade leaves Irvine Cross at 12:30pm, heading for Irvine Moor. Arriving at 1pm, thousands of locals and visitors can then enjoy an afternoon of festivities on our Moor.
The return parade leaves Irvine Moor at 5pm for Irvine Cross.
