The event will include classroom-style training led by the Irvine Police Department, hands-on e-bike track practice, a certificate recognizing training completion, safety resources and light refreshments. Parents will have the opportunity to join an educational panel with City staff and public safety officials.Students who complete the full I-Ride Safe Academy training can also earn their IUSD e-vehicle permit. IUSD requires middle and high school students who ride e-vehicles to and from campus to complete safety training and receive a permit before bringing an e-vehicle to school. Students must bring their student ID so their training completion can be verified.PLEASE NOTE:Students must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. Students are requested to bring their e-bikes for the outdoor training portion of the academy. Students must also bring their student ID if they would like to earn their IUSD e-vehicle permit. Due to limited space, please only register if you can commit to attend the training.If you are a parent or adult that would like to attend JUST the education panel portion of the event, you are welcome to do so without your student.Please be advised that Irvine Police Department will be conducting checks for all e-bikes prior to the start of the event to ensure compliance with local rules and regulations. If your e-bike does not meet all requirements, you will not be able to participate in training, earn your certificate of completion or receive credit toward your IUSD e-vehicle permit.
