Where is Loch Mullardoch?
Loch Mullardoch is a large, remote freshwater reservoir in Glen Cannich. It lies north of Glen Affric which in turn is the glen to the north of Glen Shiel - these western Glens tend to lie above each other facing out to sea.
It can be reached from the A82 from Fort William or Inverness, or from Inverness on smaller more scenic roads passing through Beauly.
The Loch was created in 1951 as part of the Affric-Beauly hydro-electric scheme. It is situated in a wild area surrounded by high mountains, including twelve Munros (north Affric and the Mullardoch four), making it a popular destination for challenging hillwalking, running, and hillwalking routes. The dam was once the longest in Scotland, holding back the huge reservoir that was once two smaller older natural lochs.

About the Adventure:
The Mullardoch Munros are magnificent. But access has proven a bit of a problem recently. Poor Angus the boatman has been unable to run the popular Mullardoch ferry reliably following an accident (not related to the ferry).
However, at the time of writing, he has confirmed he will run the ferry for us (he's only accepting advance bookings from guided groups at present). If that changes you'll be refunded minus the £2 booking fee which is the online booking platform handled by Stripe.
The plan will be to meet at the Loch Mullardoch dam which is roughly 10 miles from Cannich along a small single track road. We'll get aboard the boat and be sped along the loch.
When we disembark, suddenly it'll feel extremely remote!
A gradual pull up toward the first Munro seems endless - but once up we have 4 magnificent Munros to bag, each with a distinct character. From the fourth and final Munro, we head down through peaty terrain and join an estate track back to the cars.
There is a track alongside the loch - but it's absolutely grim so we'll use this only if we absolutely have to come down off the ridge early.

Munros:
An Socach (1,069m / 3,507ft)
An Riabhachan (1,129m / 3,704ft)
Sgurr na Lapaich (1,150m / 3,773ft)
Carn nan Gobhar (992m / 3,255ft)
