Refine your skills and expand your understanding of the human form in this intensive life drawing session led by renowned artist David Hamilton.
Currently exhibiting David Hamilton: Fragments and Artefacts at the Museum at Inveresk, David brings his deep engagement with form and materiality into the classroom, offering participants a rare opportunity to learn directly from his practice.
Tailored for participants with prior drawing experience, the workshop offers a focused exploration of gesture, proportion, anatomy, and expressive mark-making. Working with a live model, you'll engage in a series of timed poses, primarily using charcoal, designed to challenge and enhance your approach to capturing movement, mood, and structure.
David will share techniques that go beyond representation, encouraging you to explore the emotional and conceptual power of the figure.
All materials provided. Limited places available.

About the exhibition
For over four decades, Tasmanian artist David Hamilton has shaped an extraordinary career as a sculptor and educator.
His creative practice is a conversation between material and maker, an exchange that draws on the deep traditions of sculpture while pushing the boundaries of contemporary form.
Spanning sculpture, installation, drawing and digital media, Hamilton’s work moves from intimate, small-scale objects to monumental public commissions. He specialises in metal casting and also works in steel and wood – often in combination – to create striking, technically accomplished works.
