- **Event Name**: Polymer Clay Earring Workshop
- **Event Start and End Date**: Thu, 16 Jul, 2026 at 02:00 pm – Thu, 16 Jul, 2026 at 04:00 pm
- **Event Description**: Metalsmith & Metal Clay artist Kris Waldron will lead this polymer clay workshop. You will make earrings or a pendant using polymer clay in the mokume gane style. This style was originally created in the 17th century by Japanese swordsmiths.

In our workshop, we will create layers of different colors of polymer clay, and then we will add holes into the clay stack into which we will put different clay. This is a “laminating” process that results in a beautiful multicolored pattern. You can use many different colors of clay, or you can use a more subtle color palette. We will put our rolled clay into a metal frame (either silver- or brass- tone frames will be available) and then we’ll bake the pieces.

Once the piece is “baked” and cooled, we’ll add a resin coat to seal your piece. The final step will be adding surgical steel (hypoallergenic) ear wires, or your pendant will be added to leather or synthetic cord with a slipknot to create an adjustable length necklace.

Surgical steel ear wires are included in the workshop fee. If you prefer sterling ear wires they will be available for purchase at $6/pair.

Workshop $35 pendant OR earrings
Stainless steel.
