The Dearborn Public Schools Art Department hosts its annual Empty Bowls meal on Monday, Nov. 17, from 4:30 - 7:00 pm at Park Place Catering & Banquet Hall, 23400 Park St, Dearborn.
For a suggested $6 donation, guests attending this family-friendly dinner may select a one-of-a-kind handmade bowl and enjoy a simple meal of soup and bread. The bowls are made by Dearborn Public Schools students — kindergarten through high school.
A variety of soups prepared by Park Place will be available, including vegetarian and gluten free options, at this simple meal to fight hunger. A tin can raffle will also be held, with a variety of locally donated prizes.
Donations support Gleaners Food Bank and Blessings in a Backpack - Dearborn, local organizations that provide food to Dearborn families in need. Guests take home an empty handmade bowl as a reminder of all those who go hungry in our community.
This annual event is hosted and organized by the Dearborn Public Schools Art Department and Park Place Catering & Banquet Hall. Empty Bowls events take place around the world as part of a grassroots movement by artists and craftspeople to care for and feed the hungry.
