Joe “King” Carrasco is a legendary Texas musician known for pioneering the high-energy Tex-Mex and “Nuevo Wavo” rock sound that fuses garage rock, Latin rhythms, and New Wave swagger. Rising to fame in the late ’70s with his band The Crowns and the hit “Party Weekend,” Carrasco brought border-town rock ’n’ roll to international audiences, even collaborating with Michael Jackson on the song “Don’t Let a Woman (Make a Fool Out of You).** A member of the Austin Music Hall of Fame and recipient of the Texas Music Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Carrasco continues to tour and record, blending tequila-fueled fun with a deep love of Mexican and Texas musical traditions.
