Why We’re Hosting This Event
The past four years have tested me in ways I never expected.
When Melanie suddenly fell very ill in 2021, I was thrown into a role I wasn’t prepared for — primary provider, caretaker, and the one holding everything together. With her so sick, I carried it all — every bill, every responsibility, the cleaning, and every ounce of care needed for her recovery.
Then, this February, just as we were trying to find our balance, I became the one who got very ill. I developed a severe bacterial infection in my digestive tract that caused me to lose 70 pounds. Even through that, I pushed forward with my music and work, trying to provide for the house and for Melanie — still on my own — caught in this loop of responsibility.
I was afraid that if Melanie knew about the hydro bill, the stress would make her sick again. I truly believed I could handle it with the payment arrangements we had set up, but the stress and my health struggles caused me to slip. I missed a payment.
Even after sending $2,300, thinking Hydro One would work with us, they demanded the full amount up front. I kept scrambling to find a solution, still not telling Melanie — thinking I was protecting her.
On July 2nd, we woke up with no power, and we’ve been without hydro since.
This concert isn’t just about raising funds — it’s about our survival. It’s about turning the lights back on, literally and figuratively.
And we’re desperately asking for your help out of necessity.
