# Event Details - **Event Name**: “Freaky Mackalenie Halloweenie,” Matthew Macklin Featured at FC9 for October First Friday - **Event Start and End Date**: Fri, 02 Oct, 2026 at 06:00 pm (-04:00) - **Event Description**: The Full Circle Nine Gallery (FC9) will feature new member Matthew Macklin in “Freaky Mackalenie Halloweenie,” as part of the October First Friday art tour, Friday, 2nd, 6-9pm. Admission and parking are free. Excited for Spooky Season, Macklin has gathered his work into “Freaky Mackalenie Halloweenie,” a party of his mixed media work, ranging from markers, paints and inks—art he creates with his brain and arm parts mostly—to video and computer art, all steeped in his love of creating things Macklin finds funny, interesting, or just weird. “My art is satirical and emotionally colorful commentary on the human experience,” Macklin explained. “It blends raw emotion with goofy sarcasm. It’s illustrative, terrible, and also fantastic; kind of a mixed back of what I consider to be abstract surrealist expressionism. This time, it’s a celebration of all the silly things and stupidity that I create…featuring Halloween.” About Matthew Macklin For years, art wasn’t an option or sensible pursuit for Matthew Macklin. By the age of 23, Macklin’s life was defined by his three children, a full-time job, bills, and keeping food on the table. In 2013, one of Macklin’s closest friends, an up-and-coming artist from his hometown of Warsaw, Indiana, committed suicide. “She was always very encouraging of my art,” Macklin said. Her loss made me realize that this life is all we get. That time is all we have, and for whatever amount we get, it is limited. So, I decided to devote an hour a night to art. I’m entirely self-taught, and in time developed a decent body of work. Beyond his art on display, Macklin plans a host of other Halloween-themed activities, including bumping some sweet Halloween jams all night, giving out candy as an early trick-or-treat, and has promised “a free giftareeno” to any visitors arriving in costume. Macklin also promises to screen a pilot episode of a show made for NBC that never aired or was picked up, along with several other works that haven’t shown anywhere else yet.
