Computer Science Fair at the Indiana Statehouse
On January 24, 2019, Nextech, in partnership with AT&T Indiana, will take over the south atrium for the first-ever Computer Science Fair at the Indiana Statehouse. Middle and high school computer science students from around the state of Indiana will convene under the dome to showcase their web, app, or computing device successes they have created during the school year.
Legislators, policy leaders, influencers, and the tech community will have the opportunity to learn from and alongside students as they explore a myriad of CS projects showcasing apps, the web, and computing devices. They will have an opportunity to investigate the real-world applications of computer science and how CS bridges the gap between classroom and careers, beginning in middle school.
Alongside the CS Fair, legislators and policy leaders will be able to participate in an Hour of Code. The Hour of Code is a coding challenge to give individuals an introduction to computer science and has become a global learning event, celebration, and awareness event. Legislators and community leaders will be paired with high schools students for a one-on-one Hour of Code.
