You will receive a confirmation and follow up information the week prior to your selected training weekPlease remember you are signing up for the multiple days in that section that the training is scheduled. Please note that all days are necessary for the training.***Three day training includes: Tuesday - August 19th, Wednesday - August 20th, Thursday August 21st; 9AM - 12:30 PM***Please also note that there is a threshhold of EIGHT participants the training must meet. Trainings may be canceled if this threshhold is not met What is Nonviolence Training?The MLK Center’s Nonviolence Training project is based on the Kingian Model for Social Action, a social change framework rooted in both practice-based evidence and the lived experiences of Black communities.By embracing the teachings and philosophies of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the MLK Center provides the skills and resources for residents in the Mid-North neighborhoods of Indianapolis to learn, grow, and enhance their lives. We offer a peaceful space where individuals impacted by violence and systemic barriers can connect and receive quality, trauma-informed support.What is the MLK Center?The MLK Center in Indianapolis embraces the teachings and philosophies of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., to help people of all ages find, and remain on, their own paths to success and stability. For 50 years, we’ve been building a foundation upon which our community can build, through investment in our youth and empowering families.Since day one, we’ve provided a hub for our neighbors to gather, create, problem-solve, and interact with each other. The many locations the MLK Center has called home throughout our history have allowed us to become the heartbeat of the Butler-Tarkington neighborhood.
