- **Event Description**: Join us as we celebrate the dedication of Independence’s new community mural, made possible through a competitive application to the Iowans Create Community Mural Program by Buchanan County Tourism, in cooperation with Buchanan County Economic Development and the Independence Area Chamber of Commerce.

Through the Iowans Create Community Mural Program, the Iowa Arts Council matches a selected Iowa artist with a community to plan, design and create an original mural that showcases the community’s unique creative and cultural identity while building civic pride and engagement.

We invite community members, downtown businesses, local leaders and supporters of the arts to join us as we officially dedicate this new addition to downtown Independence.

The Independence mural celebrates our community, our downtown and the important role the arts play in creating vibrant places where people want to live, work and visit.

Special Guests Include:

• Jon Berg, Creative Community Development & Infrastructure Programs Manager, Iowa Economic Development Authority
