- **Event Description**: Household Hazardous Waste like paint, paint strippers, varnishes, adhesives and glues, hobby supplies, batteries, motor oil, compact and tube fluorescent light bulbs, antifreeze, lawn and garden chemicals, and pesticides, should not be thrown out with regular trash.

The MARC Solid Waste Management District and 
Independence, Missouri are holding an event to collect HHW. The event will be held 8 a.m. to noon at Walnut and Liberty Streets near Independence Square in Independence.

Residents of all participating communities may bring HHW to the event or use one of two permanent collection facilities: 
Lee's Summit Resource Recovery Park 816-287-2221,
City of Kansas City, Missouri, (816-513-8400), at no charge. 

Proof of residency is required. A list of participating communities can be found at https://www.recyclespot.org/household-hazardous-waste-facilities#participants. 

Residents of non-member communities may access the Lee's Summit facility for a fee.

Waste is not accepted from businesses — including home-based businesses, nonprofits, churches and rental properties.

Additional events will be held throughout the summer months.
