Those of you who don't know Nicolette was born prematurely at 23weeks. As a result Nicolette is legally blind, after a few surgeries when she was a baby  it led no saving her left eye and limited vision in her right eye. Fast forward a few years at 5 years old we made the heart wrenching decision to have her eye removed , As you can imagine that was tough on all of us but she handled it like a champ. Thru all of this we received Medicaid which has always covered her eye care . So you can imagine the shock when I recertified that they said she was no longer eligible and on top of the NYS deemed her not disabled anymore.  It was our understanding that due to her disability she would always have Medicaid, to our surprise that seems to have been a lie. With that we never planned for this expense 4,600 just for her prosthetic that doesn't include the cost of measuring. Our medical insurance doesn't cover any of this as all the medical professionals she does see are outta network so even if they pay a tiny portion we need to pay up front.  
At 9yrs old Nicolette is more aware of how she looks and her limitations. If we don't get the eye because she's growing eventually her facial structure will be a little different her face will start to droop as there is nothing in socket to keep it open. We are asking our "village " for a little help.
