- **Event Description**: As the air turns crisp and the colours deepen, you are invited into a sanctuary of stillness. This immersive sound bath is designed to gently unwind your system, soften the edges of a busy mind, and nourish your whole being during this season of transition.

You’ll be held in a cocoon of calming frequencies ..... crystal & Tibetan bowls, chimes, gentle percussion, and grounding tones which will guide you into deep rest and spacious inner quiet. The session starts with healing Reiki energy to encourage your body to release tension, your breath to slow, and your energy to settle, creating space for rest and renewal. Expect a nurturing atmosphere where you can simply lie back, let go, and be restored. Whether you’re seeking emotional reset, physical relaxation, or a moment of peace just for you, this sound bath event offers a soothing pause in the rhythm of life.

As our time together comes to a close, you’ll be guided back slowly with music and enjoy a warm drink and grounding chocolate before leaving feeling rested and restored.  

Sessions take place in a cosy garden cabin, with just two guests at a time for a more intimate and relaxing experience. You may be attending with a friend, or you may be paired with someone new, both are absolutely welcome, and everyone is held gently so they can receive whatever they need. You’ll settle into zero‑gravity chairs with cosy blankets, pillows and eye pillows provided. 

Because the space is small, please bring only a bottle of water and leave handbags or other items at home or out of sight in your car. Wearing comfortable layers will help you stay perfectly warm or cool throughout. To preserve the calming aroma of the essential oils, I gently ask that you avoid perfumes and aftershaves for the session. 

This event will be hosted by Maureen Leatherbarrow, a certified Sound Therapist, Reiki Master/Teacher, Massage Therapist, Meditation Teacher, Cacao Facilitator and Crystal Therapist. She will ensure you are made welcome and cared for throughout the session.

What is a sound bath?

A sound bath is a submersion in sound, using therapeutic instruments. Rest & relax as you are supported & guided on a vibrational journey, immersed in the healing frequencies of Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls, Himalayan Metal Bowls, the gong, rattles & chimes, which will encourage you to slow down and just be in mind, body & spirit.

In various cultures, sound has been used as a healing medium since the ancient times. The sounds from the instruments produce powerful tones that resonate & vibrate through every cell of the body with the common intention to create flow & release resistance as well as activating the parasympathetic nervous system, the bodies’ natural rest & digest state. The sound frequencies slow down the brainwaves, initiating a meditative & dreamlike state, a beautiful place of stillness.

In addition, sound baths can stimulate the body’s natural healing responses. Benefits can include:

Sound baths are calming and yet powerful, affecting everyone differently. Often people may experience physical sensations in the body such as vibration or movement as stagnant energies, blocked emotions & thoughts are released, restoring the body's natural alignment and flow.

There are certain conditions & circumstances that sound therapy is unsuitable for ... so please do read the following information carefully before booking and get in touch with Maureen (07903931169) if you have any questions....

Pregnancy

It is believed that there are many positive and beneficial effects to be gained from sound and vibration on the growing foetus. Hearing the crystal singing bowls is always very gentle around the pregnant mother for the healthy and positive effect of both mother and baby. However, sessions are not advised when less than 12 weeks pregnant.

Epilepsy

There is a rare form of epilepsy where music or sound can trigger an epileptic seizure. The sound is unique to the person who is usually aware of their triggers. This is linked to those people with brain lesions which are usually detected early in life, and most clients will be fully aware of their condition and triggers and would more than likely avoid this type of treatment.

Brain Injury

In the case of recovery from brain injury, it is not advised to have sound vibration.

Mental Health

Mental illness can range from anxiety, depression and mood disorders (that have a severe and tangible effect on your emotions and motivation) to psychotic disorders like schizophrenia (that affect your perceptions or senses with delusions or hallucinations). Living with any of these can be debilitating. We rely on our minds, feelings, and perceptions to get through the day. When any of those fail, it can make life difficult. Sound baths are not suitable for people with severe mental health conditions.

Implants or plates in the body (pacemakers, metal plates, pins, ball joints in particular)

The vibrations we experience when a Crystal Singing Bowl is being played may cause discomfort through the pulse of the sound transferring into the metal place or implant and even move or disrupt its function. It is best to make an informed decision and seek advice from your GP before taking part in a sound bath.

Sound Sensitivities

You may wish to position yourself further away from the crystal bowls and request that sound is not directed at you during the session.

Hearing Impairment

Sound healing can still be of benefit, you will receive the sounds as healing vibrations through your body. You may wish to be positioned closer to the instruments.

Heart Conditions & Medication

Sound baths may also not be suitable for those with severe heart conditions, high or abnormal blood pressure, or a history of aneurisms.

A sound bath may not be suitable if you are on heavy prescribed medication or have had recent surgery.

If you have any medical conditions, then it is always advisable to check with your doctor before undertaking a sound bath.
