It features an original story and a dilemma that’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family - a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before - keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents. Often narrates, breaking the fourth wall. ⭐️ Grandma – Female, Alto, 25-plus portraying “very, very old” ‣ Eccentric purveyor of herbs and potions, a loving and beloved family member. ⭐️ Wednesday – Female, Mezzo, with heavy rock belt: ‣ Stage age 18-19. Headstrong, naïve, in love with Lucas. ⭐️ Pugsley – Male, Unchanged Voice or Tenor: ‣ Actual age 10-12, or stage age 12-14. Bratty, mischievous little brother. ⭐️ Lurch – Male, Bass, 40s – 70s ‣ Tall, zombie-like butler. Moves very slowly and doesn’t smile. Speaks in grunts and monosyllables until his important solo in the finale. ⭐️ Mal Beineke – Male, Baritone, 40s – 50s: ‣ Father of Lucas. Nerdy, uptight, and dysfunctional. ⭐️ Alice Beineke – Female, Soprano with belt, 40s – 50s ‣ Mother of Lucas. Romantic, repressed, nerdy, and dysfunctional. Speaks in rhyme when she’s feeling anxious. ⭐️ Lucas Beineke – Male, Tenor, stage age 19-20: ‣ A “normal” young man, but nerdy in his own way. Overly practical, in love with Wednesday. ⭐️ The Addams Ancestors – an Ensemble of all ages (10 to infinity), genders, and voice parts, flexible casting. ‣ All ancestors in the Ensemble sing and dance.
