This innovative production follows the journey of Pippin, a young prince on a quest to discover true meaning and happiness in life. Guided by a charismatic Leading Player, Pippin navigates a vibrant world of spectacle and self-discovery, exploring themes of ambition, identity, and the pursuit of fulfillment.

Character Descriptions:
⭐️ Pippin (Tenor): 
v The young prince searching for meaning and purpose. Requires a strong
tenor with both lyrical and contemporary/rock musical styles.
⭐️ Leading Player (Mezzo-Soprano or Tenor):
‣ The charismatic and enigmatic guide of the troupe. Can be played by a mezzo-soprano (female) or tenor (male). Demands strong acting, movement, and dynamic vocal versatility.
⭐️ Catherine (Mezzo-Soprano)
‣ Warm, genuine, and quietly humorous widow who becomes Pippin’s love interest. Needs strong acting skills and emotional
honesty.
⭐️ Charlemagne (Baritone or Bass-Baritone)
‣ The powerful emperor and Pippin’s father. Requires a commanding vocal presence and strong comedic timing.
⭐️ Fastrada (Mezzo-Soprano)
‣ Charlemagne’s manipulative and glamorous wife. A schemer with flair; needs a mezzo-soprano comfortable with both sultry
and comedic moments.
⭐️ Lewis (Tenor or Baritone)
‣ Pippin’s half-brother. Physically confident and not overly burdened with introspection. Vocal range may vary (tenor or
baritone) to contrast Pippin.
⭐️ Berthe (Mezzo-Soprano or Contralto)
Pippin’s lively, free-spirited grandmother. Needs a warm, robust voice and a bold, playful presence.
⭐️ Theo (Child / Young Treble)
‣ Catherine’s young son: curious, earnest, and sweet. Small role with key emotional moments; a confident young singer/actor
is ideal.

⭐️ The Players (Various Vocal Ranges)
‣ The ensemble troupe who support the Leading Player, creating the world of the show with singing, dance, acrobatics, and
character work. All voice types and movement abilities encouraged to audition.

AUDITION DETAILS:
Audition will include:
- Learning a short, choreographed number
- Singing a brief prepared selection and/or a brief group learned piece
- Reading a short scene

Actors auditioning for lead roles are encouraged to prepare one of the following songs using the Pippin revival “sing-along” karaoke-style tracks:

NOTES ABOUT REHEARSAL SCHEDULE
• Expect 2-3 weeknight rehearsals and 1
weekend rehearsal per week.
• Not all cast members will be required to be at
every rehearsal -we value your volunteer time!!
