Peter Tavalin is a composer, performer and teacher.  His compositions range from duets for vibes and violin to the orchestral.  He’s a pianist/keyboard player who is comfortable playing jazz as well as accompanying classic silent films as an improvised score.  His teaching is based on applied theory.  He hails from NYC but hasn’t lived there in 55 years.  

Teresa Jiménez is a singer, songwriter, and educator. She approaches each of the many genres she loves with careful attention to lyric, metaphor and story. She brings her classical training and years of experience in opera, music theater, funk, rock and roll, jazz, salsa, country and folk to each performance, honing a vocal quality all her own. 

Together Peter and Teresa reinterpret beloved jazz standards, trading verses, banter and fun.

Hyattsville's own Ian Riggs joins High Standards for Sunday Afternoon Jazz at the Meadworks. Ian's expertise as a bassist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, educator, musician, artist, and collaborator extraordinaire is sure to take High Standards *even* higher.  

Free event. Indoor and outdoor seating. Tipping encouraged.
Food by 2fifty Texas Barbecue.
