- **Event Start and End Date**: Thu, 19 Mar, 2026 at 10:00 pm – Thu, 19 Mar, 2026 at 11:00 pm
- **Event Description**: Get ready to step into one of the Cape and Islands’ most extraordinary landscapes! On Thursday, March 19, join our guest speaker Dr. Sarah Bois, Director of Research and Conservation at the Linda Loring Nature Foundation, for an eye-opening journey through the sandplain grasslands and heathlands of Nantucket and Cape Cod. These globally rare ecosystems are bursting with wildflowers, home to unique wildlife, and shaped by the wind, salt spray, and maritime climate of our region. Sarah will share why these grasslands are so important, what rare species depend on them, and how conservation efforts are working to protect them for the future. Whether you love plants, birds, butterflies, or just want to learn more about the natural treasures around us, this free webinar is a beautiful way to welcome spring!

A live Q&A will follow the presentation.

Free to attend; Registration is required!

ABOUT SARAH BOIS:
Sarah is the Director of Research and Conservation for the Linda Loring Nature Foundation (LLNF). As a plant ecologist, her research has focused on a myriad of conservation and biodiversity topics including native shrub phenological response to climate change, coastal vulnerability and resiliency, non-native invasive species, management of sandplain grasslands, and rare species conservation. Sarah received her PhD in 2012 from the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Connecticut where her dissertation research focused on invasive plant distributions in New England and efforts to prioritize species management in light of climate change.

Sarah is currently the Vice-chair for the Town of Nantucket’s Coastal Resiliency Advisory Committee and is the Chair of the Nantucket Invasive Plant Species Committee. Sarah is also on the leadership team for Northeast RISCC, the Regional Invasive Species and Climate Change project for the northeastern US.

The Linda Loring Nature Foundation preserves the biological diversity of its 275-acre property on Nantucket and connects people of all ages to nature through environmental education and research.
