Event: Love Trail Running uLTRa: Ribble Valley (guided trail run)
Level: Regular (Experienced)
Total Ascent: 1000m
Location: Lancashire - BB7 9WF
Challenge yourself to run an uLTRa but do it in the best possible way – this summer, LTR is going long.
The gorgeous Ribble Valley is the location for our fully guided off-road adventure which takes place on Saturday 18th July 2020. And because we know that venturing into ultra-territory can be a bit daunting, we’ve got three great route options:
35km – A good challenge if you’ve done a half and are building up to the marathon distance. Forming the first part of the full route, this option is relatively flat, starting at the pretty village of Hurst Green, heading out towards Ribchester and on to the nature reserve at Brockholes before heading back on the south side of the Ribble, enjoying the fabulous scenery throughout.
50km – Continuing the fun and discovery, this option adds another 15km to the route. Definitely in the ultra-zone now, the route follows a section of the Tolkien Trail and includes a refreshing paddle – aka a river crossing. We’ll be nipping through some of the area’s most scenic spots before crossing the Hodder and finishing close to the impressive and historic Stonyhurst College.
60km – We’ve added a little sting in the tail of the full route, because there’s nothing better than a hilly final section to an uLTRa
3 options, all challenging, but all based on our ethos of fun, sociable and non-competitive running in amazing places. Whichever route you choose, you’ll be guided and supported throughout.
The LTR Ribble Valley Ultra will be a day to remember. Join us on July 18th 2020.
'Regular' - Is it for me? Although these events are great fun and social, to book onto a 'Regular', it's important you are a confident, conditioned and experienced trail runner, comfortable running hilly, technical routes, within a group and at a pace set by the lead guide. Other than when we stop for refreshments, you can expect to be on the move throughout. We kindly advise those unsure whether they'd be able to manage a Regular to book onto one of our 10km Tasters first.
Too far to travel? If you and a friend are keen to experience one of our upcoming guided trail running events but you're short on travel time, we offer several fab accommodation options. Depending on your preferences, we can offer small groups of between 2-5 people a place on their chosen event, cosy accommodation (the night before a morning start, or the night of an evening start), breakfast and where appropriate we’ll include event transportation. You can choose from our range of options which suit you best, these include cosy triple, double and single bedrooms. All include tea/coffee making facilities and large screen TV's. Contact us for more details.
Route: You can expect anything from fields and farm tracks, cobbles, towpaths, ginnels, woodland, moorland, bridle paths and drovers’ roads, green lanes and stepping stones, fords, bridges and stiles. Be prepared for boggy bits and of course, some 'undulating' hills!
Can I bring my dog to the event? Though we love them ourselves, due to genuine safety concerns, we do not allow dogs on any of our events.
Meeting point: BB7 9QJ
Cafe: Though we can't guarantee availability, for those who enjoy post-run refuelling, this guided trail running adventure has a delightful cafe to look forward to.
About The Host: LTR offers you the chance to embrace guided group trail runs as an alternative option to organised races. We aim to make LTRs adventurous, fulfilling, social, appropriately challenging and most importantly good fun!
