Good afternoon/early evening Trail Runners!! I hope and trust that all of you are doing okay!! 

 

Great job tackling last weeks route. We definitely stepped it up in terms of terrain, difficulty and fun! That first mile is a brutal 300 foot climb. This, no doubt, helps prepare you for Race Day. Oak Park Challenge may only be 7.6 miles, however, rest assured the first half is mighty difficult. You will climb over 1000 feet in the first 3 miles alone. 

 

Legacy loop is arguably the best loop to train on in Huntsville, for practicing footing, climbs, tech, and downhills. You get it all on that trail. It also is encompassed by a greenway, homes, and slight retail, which makes it feel a bit more safe as well; especially if you're going solo. Please commit these trails to memory, if not, you will always have these emails to fall back on. My goal is to show you all the incredible trails that we have to offer in a tiny time frame.

This week we are to meet at Oak Park itself. Which is located at 2250 Oakwood Avenue, Huntsville AL 35801. You take 565 to Oakwood Avenue, make a right, and take it all the way until you see baseball diamonds, and parking lots. It is also labeled Oak Park itself.

 

We are going to do 5 miles this week. 2.5 up and 2.5 back. It should be where Fearn St/Bankhead Pwky are. If its a little over, or under, feel free to turn back early, or run up Closed Bankhead Rd for just a bit.

 

We are going to do part of the official race course. I am going to link the entire route for the race, but, rest assured we will not be doing 7.6 miles just yet. We will do a full race preview probably week 7. Here is the route;
