Hi 👋 Welcome to CCL Huntsville's annual hands-on advocacy training. We’re a group of concerned citizens who are educating our Alabama community about climate solutions, and encouraging our elected officials to pass bipartisan legislation. We believe that the only way to tackle this problem is together. Are you worried about climate change, and ready to do something about it? Join our meeting. We’d welcome your help. What we do:Start productive conversations about climate impacts in our communityBuild support for action with community leadersMeet with our members of Congress to advocate for effective solutionsJoin our Climate Advocate Workshop to:Learn about our local group and our approach to advocacyMeet with other concerned neighbors and friendsHear how to join in and find your role in our local groupAttendance is not a commitment to join!We will be meeting in the Large Community Room 132 (which is on the opposite side of the library & cafe) at the North Huntsville Library, 3011 Sparkman Drive, Huntsville, AL 35810.Arrive to join us when the library opens at 9am. We'll do a super fast setup with everyone's help, sign-in, coffee, refreshments, and start as close to 9am as we can.Conservatives, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color), students, environmentalists, and "non-environmentalists", are all especially encouraged to attend!A little more info about our organization:The political moment can feel pretty volatile right now. Between everything happening in the world, a lot can feel out of our control. But one thing isn’t — how we show up in conversations with the people who make decisions. That’s why CCL is training volunteers in these areas:understanding how people form beliefs and what actually motivates them, building communication skills that create trust instead of conflict, andhelping our decisionmakers move step-by-step toward climate leadership instead of expecting big leaps all at once.A lot of groups focus mainly on pressure. Our approach is different — we work to change the conditions that allow lawmakers to act, by making sure climate action feels important, feasible, and politically safe in their world. That’s what keeps doors open and lets real progress keep moving forward, no matter who’s in office. This workshop is hosted by the Huntsville, AL CCL chapter. We encourage those who live in AL Congressional District 5 and everyone in Northern Alabama to attend.____________________About Citizens’ Climate LobbyThe is a local chapter of , a volunteer-driven grassroots climate organization with more than 200,000 climate advocates across the United States. "description": "Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) is a non-profit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy organization focused on national policies to address climate change.\r\nOur consistently respectful, nonpartisan approach to climate education is designed to create a broad, sustainable foundation for climate action across all geographic regions and political inclinations. By building upon shared values rather than partisan divides, and empowering our supporters to work in keeping with the concerns of their local communities, we work towards the adoption of fair, effective, and sustainable climate change solutions.\r\nIn order to generate the political will necessary for passage of the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act we train and support volunteers to build relationships with elected officials, the media and their local community.\r\nCitizens' Climate Education (CCE), since its founding in 2007, has exponentially grown its nationwide coalition to a remarkable 160,000+ registered supporters. Volunteers are organized into 458 active chapters that cover 90 percent of all U.S. congressional districts. Each chapter is run by a Group Leader and supported by State Coordinators and Regional Coordinators. Chapters work closely with their corresponding Congressional Liaison, who is a designated CCE volunteer leader that maintains the ongoing relationship between a specific member of Congress and local CCE chapters within that member’s district or state. At each level of our organizational model, CCE staff provides robust coordination, systems, training, and support to ensure volunteers are successful in their advocacy work. Learn more at https://citizensclimateeducation.org/\r\n \r\nCitizens’ Climate Education (CCE) and Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) are sister organizations that complement each other in strategically building political will for impactful climate solutions. CCE is a registered 501(c)(3) organization that provides key trainings, tools, and other educational resources to help volunteers become effective advocates for climate solutions. CCL is a registered 501(c)(4) organization that supports volunteer-led and other direct lobbying efforts on specific climate legislation. Each organization has its own governing board, operating budget, and audited financials. As CCL has a more public-facing presence, most public accomplishments are attributed to it. Nevertheless, most program activities are related to climate education rather than direct lobbying efforts, and come from the CCE budget.\r\n "
